An associate of mine of normal weight and blood pressure, got pregnant and developed high blood pressure throughout her pregnancy. The moment she gave birth, the BP went back to normal. The doctor told her she should never get pregnant again. Against his advice, she got pregnant again and the high blood pressure not only came back but it stayed and has been with her since. Still a fairly normal weight, her BP can be normal one day and way the next. Any ideas on what could be causing this? It even has her doctors stumped.

I’m currently taking Toprol, which is a beta-blocker. However this medicine also lowers blood pressure and mine is fine to start with. My pulse runs very high. My doctors became more concerned when I was in his office and my pulse was at 147. He sent me to cardiologist, after many test they were unable to find anything physically wrong with my heart. They put me on the beta-blocker to lower my pulse & help with the chest pains.
The chest pain started about 5 years ago. An echocardiogram was performed, but the could see nothing wrong. I basically give up on finding an answer for the pain. Until the recent doctors visit. Once he sent me to the cardiologist, another echo was performed along with a heart monitor, & stress test. Still no answer as to why the pain. I’m not sure yet if the toprol is working. I was already tired all the time, now I’m exhausted since being on the medicine. I’ve tried to research medicine options to find one that targets pulse rather than both pulse and blood pressure. So far no luck. Any advice or suggestions?

My blood pressure is around 145/90 and i am taking 50mg of Triamterene. Because my blood pressure is elevated, my doctor wants to put me on Lisinopril 10mg. The pharmacy warned about the medications both causing potassium levels to raise to unhealthy levels and to double check with my doctor. I did, and they still say it’s okay to take it even though the things I read on the net and what the pharmacy told me were negative. I am 27 years old and am already half way through the process of getting the gastric bypass, if I change doctors now then the whole process will be screwed. If I continue to take the Triamterene and not start this new drug, then how long approximately will I see positive results if I try to lower the bloodpressure though diet/exercise. I am wondering on average if you see results in weeks or months because I don’t trust this pill nor the doctor seeing that I was already in the emegency room last weekend because he had me on something else that didn’t work.
The Linsinopril is a small dose though so I am wondering if it also makes a huge difference
